Need a safe lower power supply? Hot-wire a usb cable! There are a number of different usb terminals.
And there’s no “universal” colouring of the wires. But normally it’s something like this:
| # | Name | Color | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | VBUS | Red or Orange | +5V |
| 2 | D− | White or Gold | Data− |
| 3 | D+ | Green | Data+ |
| 4 | GND | Black or Blue | Ground |
For Mini/Micro-A and -B pinout then the 4th pin is the “ID” pin. It has no wire, and distinguishes cable ends:
- “A” plug (host): connected to GND
- “B” plug (device): not connected
(I don’t quite understand how this works but…) Pin 5 is then the ground pin.
Pump test
The pump has a red and a black cable.
Plugging in a micro B charger, holding it as oriented in the diagram, inserting the red cable to the left and the black to the right starts the motor running! :) Yay.
